The New Year is celebrated with pizzazz almost everywhere in the world, and Manchester is no exception. From circus shows to elegant jazz bars – and of course parties at some of Manchester’s most popular clubs – we’ve rounded up the very best places to enjoy the biggest midnight of the year…
1. Band on The Wall
Band on the Wall can usually be relied upon for a buzzing New Year’s Eve; last year saw a special live set from soul star Myles Sanko lined up for New Year’s Eve – an act described by funkmeister Craig Charles as “one of the freshest talents in the UK.”
2. Oh me Oh my
We’re hoping Oh Me Oh My throws a New Year’s party again this year – there was something properly charming the venue’s 2015-2016 offering. Unlike the pumped-up clubs elsewhere in the city, this effortlessly elegant tea room and restaurant decided to take you up to its secret roof garden to coddle a hot toddy and write secrets into the dark with sparklers. 3. Camp and Furnace
Whether you’re Liverpool based, or close enough to travel, Camp and Furnace’s New Year’s Eve bash is worth shortlisting. On a different scale to many, there have been “champagne and cocktail bars aplenty,” as well as street food, lights, fireworks and lasers in previous years.
Tattu is no stranger to throwing a spectacular. The elaborate fusion restaurant – complete with artificial blossom tree on its upper floor – has, in the past, laid on a special five-course set menu, an array of live performances, musical acts and a stunning visual display for the final countdown to midnight.
5. Manchester House
One for those who have managed to keep a fairly full wallet through the festive season.
