92-year-old man has been left extremely shaken after confronting a burglar in his home last week – with police yet to catch the intruder.
The burglar entered the pensioner’s house at 11.50am on Alicia Drive in Shawclough and stole his wallet, which contained a large amount of cash.
Hearing a noise, the elderly victim went to investigate and was knocked back as the man pushed past him to escape.
The offender has been described as white, male and between 5ft 7in and 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a high-viz jacket.
Detectives have launched an urgent investigation into the burglary.
Detective Sergeant Louise Ashurst of Rochdale division said: “The victim is an elderly and vulnerable man and has been left extremely shaken by what has happened.
“If you saw a man behaving suspiciously in the area, or running away from a house at the time of the burglary, I would urge you to contact police.”DS Ashurst issued an additional warning to Rochdale residents.She said: “I would also like to remind people to keep their doors locked and their windows closed and to contact your Local Neighbourhood Policing team if you have any concerns.”
